Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between cut and fill?
- Cut is the material taken out of the high side of a slope; fill is that material placed and compacted on the low side. Balancing the two on site avoids truck movements and is usually the cheapest way to get a level pad.
- Can a house be built on filled ground?
- Only if the fill is placed in layers and compacted to specification, and even then footings often need to reach undisturbed material below. Your engineer nominates what is acceptable and we build to that detail.
- How much slope can a building site handle?
- Steep blocks are routine here — the limiting factor is usually machine access and what happens to the exposed batter, not the fall itself. More fall simply means more cut volume and a retaining solution on the high side.
