- Do I need approval to clear vegetation?
- On many Gold Coast acreage blocks parts of the property carry vegetation or koala habitat overlays, and clearing those areas needs approval. Exempt work such as maintaining an existing cleared area or a firebreak is usually more straightforward.
- What happens to the cleared material?
- Timber can be mulched on site and reused on tracks and garden beds, stockpiled for firewood, or removed. Mulching on site is normally cheaper than carting, and keeps organic material out of landfill.
- Should stumps be ground or grubbed out?
- Grubbing removes the whole root ball and is necessary anywhere you intend to build, form a driveway or run services. Grinding is enough where the ground will only ever carry grass or garden.
